About the winery
Bodegas 1890 is the Jumilla winery of the García Carrión family group, in the heart of the Jumilla D.O. It takes its name from the year the family business was founded, when the first generation built it to meet the demand for wine caused by the phylloxera crisis in France. Since then, several generations have kept up the area's traditional practices, in a landscape of mountains and valleys with little rainfall. Its main grape is Monastrell, well adapted to drought, though it also grows Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Its wines are aged in American and French oak barrels.
