Bodegas Araico

About the winery

Bodegas Araico is a family winery in Villabuena de Álava (Eskuernaga), in Rioja Alavesa and within the D.O.Ca. Rioja, that has been growing vines since 1986. It is run by Julián and Inmaculada; their son Miguel handles the technical side and Estíbaliz sales and wine tourism. They look after their own vineyards in and around Villabuena, with vines between 30 and 100 years old. They make Araico joven, crianza, reserva, de autor, a Viura white and a barrel-fermented Viura, as well as El Orgullo de Julián, a single-vineyard Tempranillo from a plot planted in 1961, destemmed by hand, made by carbonic maceration and foot-trodden. They offer guided tours and tastings at the winery, led by the family themselves.
