About the winery
Bodega Herederos de Argüeso was founded by León de Argüeso y Argüeso in 1822. Mr León de Argüeso had settled in Sanlúcar a few years earlier, coming from Arija (Burgos); he initially opened a small grocery shop called «Almacén del Reloj» on Calle Bolsa, which gradually prospered. To create the wine business, León de Argüeso acquired some old soleras and the «San José» winery in the Callejón de Santo Domingo, the business's first winery, estimated to be more than 250 years old.
