About the winery
Bodegas Benetakoa was founded in 1985 by our father Carlos Martínez de Cañas in Villabuena de Álava. Viticulture has been a centuries-old tradition in our family, and for several generations we have devoted ourselves to pampering and learning from the land and the vine. That same year, 1985, Bodegas Benetakoa released its first carbonic maceration wine, a wine we continue to offer our customers year after year. In 1991 barrels were introduced to also make barrel-aged wines. As a result of that work, our first crianza wine came onto the market in 1994.
