Bodegas Coloma is a family winery in Alvarado, Badajoz, whose first vineyards were planted on the banks of the Limonetes, next to the Guadiana. The tradition dates back to the late 19th century, when Francisco Coloma made wine for his neighbours; his grandson José Félix brought it to Extremadura and the family has been making wine here since 1966, with parents and children working together. They grow native varieties such as Garnacha Tintorera, Alarije and Graciano, alongside others brought in from elsewhere such as Merlot, Pinot Noir and Moscatel de grano menudo, and their wines include Coloma Verdejo, Coloma Merlot Selección and Coloma Rosado. The visit, for adults only, starts with a tasting among the vines, tours the winery and its ageing hall and ends with a guided tasting of three wines.
