Bodegas de Pereña was founded in 1998 in Pereña de la Ribera, in the Arribes del Duero Natural Park and within the D.O. Arribes, with the aim of recovering the area's native varieties. It works with Juan García and, above all, Bruñal, from vines nearly a hundred years old, bush-trained on poor slate and granite soils. Grapes are picked by hand, with bunch selection on the vine and on a sorting table, and the winery ferments with its own yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Its most distinctive wine is Bruñal, made only in the best vintages and aged in French and Romanian oak before a long rest in bottle. It also makes Abadengo white and rosé.
