About the winery
Bodegas El Villar is the cooperative of Villar del Arzobispo, in the Los Serranos district and within the D.O. Valencia. It was born in 1970 from the merger of two old village cooperatives, Nuestra Señora de la Paz and San Isidro, later joined by small growers from other villages in the Serranía, and today it has more than a thousand members. Its vines and olive trees grow on clay and limestone soils, at around 700 metres above sea level and some fifty kilometres from the Mediterranean. It works with Merseguera, Moscatel, Macabeo, Pedro Ximénez, Garnacha Tintorera, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a special fondness for the native Merseguera. Its wines include Laderas, Viña Nora Crianza, Señorío D. Pedro de la Vega Reserva and Cantalares Merlot; it also makes olive oil at its own mill.
