About the winery
Bodegas Fermín Gilar stands in the very centre of Jumilla, Murcia, within the D.O. Jumilla, on the same spot where José Gilar Jiménez founded it in 1929. His son Fermín Gilar Guardiola began working with him as a boy, soon took the reins and expanded the winery, later joined by his own sons Pepe and Fermín, who modernised it. Since 2010 it has been run by the fourth generation of the family. Its raw material is Monastrell, the native grape of the area, which rests in all kinds of vessels, from large wooden vats to French and American oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. They make the Cuarta Generación line, with CG Monastrell Selección, CG Monastrell and CG Sauvignon Blanc, and Viña Calero, a wine they have been selling in bag-in-box format for over twenty-five years.
