Bodegas Garay

◍ Huelva

About the winery

Bodegas Garay is a small project in La Palma del Condado, within the D.O. Condado de Huelva, that brings together two wine regions: the Condado and El Bierzo, where the Garay side of the family comes from. Mario Garay and Ana González bought their first vineyard on the Camino de Hinojos in 2006, with vines more than half a century old, and after years of taking their grapes to local presses they decided to make the wine themselves. They farm Zalema and Listán del Condado organically and make natural wines, without correcting the must or intervening before bottling: Garay Bleu, Red, Negro Roto, Luz, Ancestral, Malva and Prásino. On the visit they explain their winemaking at an easy pace, the tasting takes place in their wine bar, and there is a virtual reality experience that follows the journey from vine to glass.
