Bodegas Góngora is a historic winery in Villanueva del Ariscal, in Seville's Aljarafe, about fifteen kilometres from Seville, listed as a Bien de Interés Cultural. Its origins go back to the Pata de Hierro estate, and its hallmark is an old beam-and-spindle press. In the 19th century the Góngora family expanded the vineyards and winery, and in the early 20th century Dolores de Góngora e Yriarte, by then a widow, took charge of the business, something unusual at the time. It makes white, aromatised and classic solera-aged wines, among them the Verdejo Marqués de Eliche, the off-dry white Señorío de Heliche, Vermouth Yriarte, which revives a 19th-century family recipe, and Guachilifü. Several types of guided visit through the winery and its history are offered.
