Bodegas González

◍ Toledo

About the winery

Bodegas González is a family house in Camarena, Toledo, within the D.O. Méntrida, known for its Viña Bispo label. It was founded in 1898 by the great-grandparents of the current owners in a house in the village, and the present winery was built in 1959. Today it is run by Eladio González and his sons Juan Carlos, José Manuel and Mariano, the fourth generation of growers. They farm their own vineyards on the El Bispo and La Serna estates, in the Bispo valley, on clay-sandy soils, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah, Garnacha, Graciano and Petit Verdot for reds, and Sauvignon Blanc, Verdejo and Moscatel de grano menudo for whites. They make young, oaked and crianza reds, a Garnacha rosé and a white. The winery has its own shop where you can taste and buy their wines.
