Bodegas Izadi is in Villabuena de Álava, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. It was founded in 1987 by Gonzalo Antón with a group of friends and businesspeople from Vitoria, in a village where part of his family already grew vines, and his closeness to the restaurant world shaped from the outset a wine made for the table. In 2000 his son Lalo Antón joined, driving exports and new projects in other regions. Its range runs from the Izadi Larrosa white, rosé and red, through the Crianza and the Selección wines, to El Regalo, which comes from a singular vineyard. The visit takes in the winery's five levels, where the grapes descend by gravity, and ends in a glass-walled room among the barrels with a tasting of three wines paired with gourmet products.
