Bodegas Juan Campinún

About the winery

Bodegas Juan Campinún is a family winery in Yécora, in Rioja Alavesa, now run by the second generation of the family that gives it its name. Its vineyards are spread across Yécora, Lanciego and Elvillar, sheltered by the Sierra de Cantabria and its best-known rock formation, the León Dormido (Sleeping Lion), which the family has made the emblem of the house. It is one of the village's wineries, alongside the local cooperative and other small producers making wine under the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Its wines include the red Tradición Familiar, made almost entirely from Tempranillo with a small share of Viura, from vineyards at around 550 metres above sea level, which has been reviewed by British critic Jancis Robinson.
