About the winery
Bodegas El Monte is located at the Cerro del Majuelo site in Moriles Altos, within the Montilla-Moriles D.O. It was founded by Antonio López López in 1994 opposite the old Lagar del Monte, as a continuation of his family's Lagar de los Naranjos, and with the Cebolla brand contributed by the Cuenca family. The winery was built down the hillside, with the biological ageing cellar underground and its own vineyard above, harvested by hand. Its casks hold wines such as Fino Cebolla, Los Naranjos, Monteverde, Moriles Viejo and PX San Ramón. They run guided tours of the ageing cellar with a tasting, and others that include a train ride through the vineyards, the lagar and a tasting, with a food pairing option.
