About the winery

Bodegas Luque is a family winery in Doña Mencía, in the south of Córdoba, next to the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park. It was founded in 1920 by José Luque Campos, who began by buying American oak butts to age local wines in them and made them known in the village, the surrounding area and later across much of Spain. In the seventies it moved to Calle de La Molinera, and in 1975 his sons took over. Today it ages its wines in some 4,000 butts spread over cellars with curious names such as the Sótano, the Molino, the Tenis and the Avión. Most are given over to its emblematic fino, El Pato Especial, which goes through criaderas and solera and is bottled unfiltered. It also makes Pedro Ximénez, amontillado and oloroso.
