About the winery
Bodegas Montalvo Wilmot makes wine on the Los Cerrillos estate, in La Mancha in Ciudad Real, whose wines were recognised as Vino de Pago in 2019. The project brings together two families, the Montalvos of La Mancha and the Wilmots of Bordeaux, and the winery is housed in a late 19th-century building that has been restored and modernised. Its roughly 40 hectares of vineyard, planted more than four decades ago, lie beside the Peñarroya reservoir, at almost 700 metres of altitude with the Guadiana crossing the estate, on limestone, marl and ochre clay soils. It works Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Syrah in reds such as MW Cabernet de Familia, MW Petit Verdot Selección, MW Colección Privada and MW Syrah, and also makes the white MW Verdejo and the Crisalba wines, a lightly sparkling white and rosé.
