ValleYglesias is a family winery in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, in the Sierra Oeste of Madrid at the gateway to Gredos, within the D.O. Vinos de Madrid. Its name recalls the old Valle de Yglesias, where monks from the local monastery planted vines in the Middle Ages. They work Garnacha and Albillo Real from old vines on granite soils, between 650 and 900 metres above sea level. Their reds are G3, G2, Senderos and Garnacha Rock, and their whites A3, A2 and La Pájara, the latter barrel-aged. The visit, private for each group, covers the vineyard and the winery with its barrel room and includes a tasting of wines from tank and barrel followed by bottled wines with tapas. They also have a restaurant.
