Bodegas Venta Quemada is a small family winery in Cúllar, on the high plateau of northern Granada, within the Altiplano de Sierra Nevada vino de la tierra area. It is the project of Joaquín Damián Fernández Sánchez and his wife, Mari Carmen, who returned to the village of their ancestors and restored the old village Casino to house the winery. There they make wine from the two hectares of vines the couple own in the same village, planted at 1,030 metres above sea level. The sun, the wind and the extreme temperatures of this area give high-altitude wines with greater aromatic intensity, more colour and good structure.
