Granada's larder is diverse and mountain-born. The Trevélez ham, cured in the Alpujarra, the plato alpujarreño, the remojón of orange and cod and the Sacromonte omelette coexist with tropical produce from the coast such as mango, avocado and custard apple.

The wines of the D.O.P. Granada and of the high vineyards of the Contraviesa, some of the loftiest in Europe, pair well with these flavours. For dessert, the piononos of Santa Fe call for a sweet from the Altiplano to round off the table.

The Alhambra and the Generalife, the summit of Nasrid art, and the Albaicín, with its viewpoints, make Granada a World Heritage Site. The Royal Chapel, the Renaissance cathedral and the flamenco caves of the Sacromonte add layers of history and duende.

Wine culture sinks its roots into the Al-Andalus era and the high-altitude vineyards of the Alpujarra and the Contraviesa, where wines are still made using traditional methods. Guadix, with its cathedral and its troglodyte quarter, completes a singular heritage.
