About the winery
Zuazo Gastón is a family winery in Oyón, in Rioja Alavesa, built by a family of grape growers with roots in the 19th century. Mariano Zuazo founded a cooperative with other growers in 1947 and the next generation set up another winery in the 1980s, but their own project came when Prudencio Zuazo Gastón finished his oenology studies and decided to make wine solely from the grapes of their vineyards. Bodegas y Viñedos Zuazo Gastón was born in 2001 and today makes crianzas and reservas under the family name, as well as the Hacienda Gastón varietal range. The family also runs Teófilo Reyes, in Ribera del Duero. At the winery they have a museum devoted to wine culture, covering the vineyard, winemaking and bottles, rounded off with a tasting or a Rioja-style meal in their dining room.
