Caballero is a family house founded in 1830, when José Cabaleiro do Lago opened his first wineries in Chipiona as an offshoot of the family's oak timber business in Galicia. The headquarters later moved to El Puerto de Santa María, where the company took over the José de la Cuesta wineries and the Burdon house, and today the Luis Caballero Group has its emblem in the Castillo de San Marcos, a 13th-century fortress whose silhouette appears on its labels. It produces Sherry wines and Sanlúcar manzanilla under brands such as Lustau, La Ina and Macarena, as well as vermouth, ponche and other liqueurs. Visitors can tour the Castillo de San Marcos, in the centre of El Puerto, and the Lustau cellars, in the old town of Jerez.
