About the winery
With the name Bàrbara Forés, the married couple Carmen Ferrer and Manuel Sanmartín have sought to pay tribute to their great-great-grandmother Bàrbara Forés, born in Gandesa on 7 February 1828. Bàrbara Forés, daughter of a wine merchant (Rafael Forés) and a landowner (María Figueras), was a woman of great character who had a decisive influence on her son Rafael. Thus Rafael Ferrer Forés, a pharmacist and enlightened winegrower, had the winery built in the ancestral home, where he began bottling wine at the end of the 19th century.
