Celler Germans Balart
About the winery
Celler Balart is a winery in the D.O. Terra Alta run by brothers Marc and Lluís Balart in Gandesa (Tarragona). The project began in 2002, when Marc started making wine in the basement of his grandparents' house in Gandesa's old town; until 2011 he worked alone and made a single wine, Borretes, a varietal Carignan. That year Lluís joined him, they founded the winery together and broadened the range with Grenache wines. In 2020 the winery moved to larger premises on the La Plana estate. Marc looks after the vineyard and Lluís handles sales, while they share the winemaking. They work with Grenache, White Grenache and Carignan, and their wines include Balart, Balart Blanc and the Balart Àmfora line, in white and red.
