About the winery

Vins Algars is a family winery in Batea, in the Terra Alta, named after the street where it stands and the river that waters the district. The first grapes arrived in 1940 at the small winery in the village centre, and after the Civil War the brothers Antonio and Nicanor Tarragó Solé, together with their father, launched the project that their descendants carry on today. They work only with grapes from their 32 hectares, at different altitudes and on different soils around Batea and farmed organically since 2008, with white, red and Garnacha Peluda. Their range is split between Algars, from young and middle-aged vines; Trufes, named after their first estate; Flor de Trufes, single-vineyard varietal Grenaches with some time in barrel; and Sílvia*Fernando, made with Garnacha Peluda.
