About the winery
The origins of Cellers de Scala Dei go back to the 19th century when, following Mendizábal's confiscation of church lands, the families of the current owners acquired the land of the Charterhouse of Scala Dei and became the pioneers of bottling wine in the Priorat. The facilities are housed in former outbuildings of the Carthusian monks. The ageing cellar is a 17th-century construction, located in the emblematic building where the Charterhouse's procurator lived.
