About the winery
Cims de Porrera was born in 1996 out of concern for recovering Porrera's century-old native old vines (Cariñena and Garnacha), which grow on llicorella soils on slopes of 40-50%, with an average yield of 300 to 500 g of grapes per plant. The initiative began together with the members of the village cooperative, from whom Cims de Porrera buys the grapes in order to encourage young farmers to keep up these prized vineyards (40 ha of vines aged 60-105 years). Annual production is 70,000 bottles.
