About the winery

Cume do Avia is a family winery in Santo André de Camporredondo, in Ribadavia, within the D.O. Ribeiro, named after the Avia river. It was founded in 2005 by brothers Diego and Álvaro Colarte together with their cousins, who returned to the hamlet of Eira dos Mouros, abandoned by their ancestors in 1942, and recovered the family vineyards. Today they farm about nine hectares planted with more than a dozen native Galician varieties, including Treixadura, Brancellao, Caíño Longo and Sousón, organically and with hand harvesting. For years they made their wine in their grandparents' old garage. Their wines include the white and red Arraiano and the Brancellao Dos Canotos, and the winery offers guided visits to see how the wine is made.
