About the winery

Etxerriaga is a small family winery in Amorebieta-Etxano, in the heart of Bizkaia, between mountains and sea, making txakoli under the DO Bizkaiko Txakolina as well as cider. They describe themselves as an independent, self-financed house, with land farmed since the 15th century and ancestors who made cider and txakoli for centuries; the current winery was built in 2015. Their vines face south-east, towards Urkiola, on slopes with maritime influence, and the variety they name is Hondarrabi Zuri, which gives a light, floral txakoli. The cider is made without additives or preservatives. They offer wine tourism to watch the production process live with an aperitif, and tastings with a meal on site, with a choice of menus, as well as corporate catering.
