Finca Río Negro is a family winery in Cogolludo, in the Sierra Norte of Guadalajara, next to the natural park of the same name, and has its own Vino de Pago designation. It was founded by José Manuel Fuentes, a businessman from Palencia who wanted to revive the vineyards he had known as a child in Tierra de Campos: in 1998 he planted the first plot on an estate that had been given over to cereals and livestock for decades, and the first vintage reached the market in 2010. The vineyard grows at an unusual altitude for vines, and an old recovered grape variety that matches no other known one has been identified there. Its wines are Finca Río Negro, Cerro del Lobo, FRN 5º Año, 992 FRN and a Gewürztraminer. The winery can be visited by prior booking.
