The V.P. Finca Río Negro has 1 winery you can visit, a singular estate, protected under the name Río Negro, located in Cogolludo, in the province of Guadalajara, with plots in the municipalities of Cogolludo, San Andrés and Membrillera. Recognised as a Vino de Pago in 2025, it is the northernmost vineyard in Castilla-La Mancha and borders the Sierra Norte de Guadalajara Natural Park. A personal visit that combines vineyards, mountains and the Renaissance palace of Cogolludo.
It sits on a raña-type plateau between 940 and 1,000 metres, with acidic, stony, clay soils formed from material washed down from the quartzite and slate ranges of the Sistema Central. The continental climate, tempered by altitude, brings cooler summers than in the surrounding area, day-night swings of more than 20 °C and late harvests. Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, the native Tinto Fragoso and Gewürztraminer, the only white grape, produce fresh wines with marked acidity.
