About the winery

García Carrión is a family company born in Jumilla which, over five generations, has grown into a large wine group with wines in a dozen designations of origin and the Don Simón brand. Its roots go back to 1890, when the great-grandfather of the current chairman, José García-Carrión, built a sizeable winery for the time in Jumilla, taking advantage of French demand for wine after phylloxera. In 1968 José García-Carrión joined the business aged 19 and built another winery on the outskirts of Jumilla. In the D.O. Jumilla the group works with Monastrell, producing reds such as Castillo San Simón Monastrell, Mayoral and Pata Negra Apasionado Monastrell.
