About the winery

Hasi Berriak is a txakoli micro-winery in Ibarrangelu, in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, within the DO Bizkaiko Txakolina. It is mountainous, rainy country, with a climate softened by the sea and soils that take on salt from the nearby coast. They farm two plots of vines over 20 years old, at the Nekesolo site in Mendata and the Maidaga site in Errigoiti, with Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Zuri Zerratia. Their approach is organic and biodynamic, with cover crops, no herbicides or pesticides, and cellar work following the lunar calendar. The result is very limited-production txakolis in a more serious, mature style: Saregin, Arotz, Baserritar and Nekazari. The winery can be visited by booking through their website.
