About the winery
Elías Gil is the fourth generation of a long-established winegrowing family. 1769 is the year in which the first Gil linked to the world of the vine can already be found: two and a half centuries of growing vines. But winemaking came a little later, two generations on. Ramon Gil, Elías's great-grandfather, was the heir to the family home, the largest estate in the village, always in Horta de Sant Joan. As was tradition, he would inherit the estate as the eldest son of quite a number of siblings. The siblings got married one after another.
