The origin of the name Naveran dates back to 1840, when Pablo Parellada, a paper factory worker, sailed to Buenos Aires as a representative for rag paper, which at the time was used for official documents. Years later he returned to Barcelona with the fortune he had made in America and visited Mr Onofre de Naveran, Lord of Guernica, who agreed to let him marry his eldest daughter. Once married, he returned to Buenos Aires, but the couple contracted yellow fever, which took the life of his pregnant wife.
