About the winery
Parajes del Valle is a winery in Jumilla, within the Jumilla D.O., that makes only organic Monastrell wines. The grapes come from small plots in sites such as Fuente de las Perdices, Cañada de Albatana, Las Puntillas and Término de Arriba, many farmed by small growers under terraje, a traditional tenancy system. The vines are bush-trained and dry-farmed, between 15 and 60 years old, at 600 to 700 metres, with cold winters, very hot summers and barely 300 litres of rain a year. Harvesting is by hand and the aim is fresh, aromatic wines without artifice; its most select plot wine comes from ungrafted vines in Fuente de las Perdices and Cañada de Albatana.
