◍ Lugo

About the winery

Pazo de la Cuesta is in San Clodio, in Ribas de Sil, within the D.O. Ribeira Sacra and next to the mountains of the Courel Geopark. Its story begins in 1608, when captain Álvaro de Losada y Somoza inherited the Casa Grande de La Cuesta from his grandfather, with its chapel, cellars and the vineyard running down to the Sil, and since then it has passed through fourteen generations of the same family. The current generation has restored the manor and is reviving its historic vineyard, with the winery surrounded by vines. It works native varieties such as Godello, Treixadura, Mencía, Brancellao, Sousón and Merenzao, in wines such as its Mencía, Godello, Brancas and Brancellao. The visit takes in vineyards and gardens, the family house and the old A Cova cellar, and ends with a tasting and gourmet products.
