Rico Nuevo is a growers' project in the Alto Alberche, in the Sierra de Gredos in Ávila, within the D.O.P. Cebreros. It was started in 2018 by Laura Blázquez and Juanan Martín, natives of Navatalgordo and Burgohondo, who revive old vines planted by earlier generations on granite soils between 900 and 1,200 metres above sea level. They farm biodynamically, organically and naturally, with Garnacha as their signature grape. Their range runs from the regional wine Rico Nuevo Garnacha to the village wine Vereda de Las Tórdigas, through site wines such as Barrera de Sol, Jirón de Niebla, Flor de Albihar and Al Raso, and the plot wine La Quebrada. They offer visits with a walk and tasting in the vineyard, a stop at the winery and local produce, and a gathering with chargrilled food on some weekends.
