Rosell Mir
About the winery
Rosell Mir is a family winery in Subirats, in the Alt Penedès, about 30 kilometres from Barcelona. The family has farmed the Can Guineu estate since the 15th century, when a notarial deed from 1474 already mentions Guillem Mir with a house, a mill and vineyards in the Vilarnau area. For generations they made wine and brandy that they sold in bulk, until in 1979 Josep M. Rosell, the seventeenth generation, began bottling under their own label. Their vineyards, organically farmed between Subirats and Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, are planted with Xarel·lo, Macabeo, white Grenache, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, including very old Xarel·lo vines planted between the Subirats mountains and the river Anoia.
