About the winery

Bodegas Tavera is a family winery in Arcicóllar, Toledo, in the heart of the D.O.P. Méntrida. Its story begins in 1917 in the underground cellar of an 18th-century family house, where wine was kept in clay jars; new wineries followed in the fifties and sixties, and a full modernisation in 2005. Its vineyards in Camarena and Arcicóllar grow at around 650 metres on sands of granitic origin, and keep old Garnachas such as La Serafina, planted in a trench in 1925, and the Cuartel vineyard, from 1945. They make the young Tavera Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, Tavera Rosado Garnacha and the Tres Culturas Viura and Sauvignon whites. They run guided visits to the winery and vineyards, workshops and tastings of four wines with local products.
