About the winery

Txakoli Urdaibai is a winery in Arratzu, in Bizkaia, within the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve and the DO Bizkaiko Txakolina. Its vineyard, planted in 2003, lies at the foot of Mount Oiz, beside the river Gola, on clay-limestone soils. They make a single wine, Txakoli Urdaibai, based on Hondarrabi Zuri with additions of Hondarrabi Zuri Zerratia, Mune Mahatsa and Izkiriota Ttipia, organically farmed and vinified traditionally on its lees. It is a pale straw-yellow txakoli with ripe white fruit and herbal notes, a good match for rice dishes, oily fish and cheeses. It is a small project that has grown vintage by vintage.
