Urpina
About the winery
Urpina is the vineyard estate of the AMPANS Foundation in Sant Salvador de Guardiola, in the Bages area, within the D.O. Pla de Bages. It is a social project that provides work and recognition for people with intellectual disabilities or in vulnerable situations, and it grew out of the recovery of the estate's vineyards, on a property of more than 120 hectares overlooking Montserrat. A Sumoll vine almost a hundred years old, predating phylloxera, still survives there, and native varieties such as Sumoll and Mandó have been recovered alongside Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Everything is farmed organically and by hand. Its wines are Gebrada, from Picapoll and Macabeu; Alfàbrega, from Muscat; Dues Mans; 3 Nits, from Merlot; U, from Cabernet Sauvignon; and Cor Valent, from Sumoll.
