About the winery
Contino, the first château in Rioja, was born in 1973, driven by the century-old CVNE winery and the owners of the 62-hectare estate located in Rioja Alavesa. The history of the property dates back to the 16th century and is reflected in its very name. The “contino” was the officer in charge of a guard of a hundred soldiers who watched “de contino” (continuously) over the royal family from the time of the Catholic Monarchs.
