Vinya Alfori
About the winery
Vinya Alforí is on the El Peller estate in Fontanars dels Alforins, in the southern inland part of the D.O. Valencia. In 2015 the recovery of this long-established winery began, and its vineyard, of some 45 hectares, was converted to organic farming with care for biodiversity, with the aim of bottling its own wine. A team of growers and winemakers works without adding oenological products and ages the wines in French oak vats and concrete tanks. They grow varieties that are unusual in the area, such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Nebbiolo, and have a range called Artist Series. The visit walks through three plots around the winery, talking about soils, training and pruning, continues with the winemaking process and ends with a tasting of their wines with local products; there are also wine and chocolate tastings.
