The Navarra D.O. launches the slogan "Born to please" and returns to its hallmarks: rosés with history, garnacha as its flagship and a freshness that runs through all its wines.
With its new campaign, presented in Pamplona, the Navarra Denomination of Origin sets out to win back the market by recalling where it comes from. Rather than chasing trends, the strategy looks to what this area of northern Spain has always done well: benchmark rosés, characterful garnacha and fresh wines. It is a clear positioning, designed so that consumers associate Navarra with pleasure and accessibility rather than solemnity.
If there is one wine that has put Navarra on the international map, it is the rosé. For decades it has been its great ambassador, and the new campaign champions it without complexes. These are rosés with colour, with fruit and with the ability to please both the enthusiast and the person coming to wine for the first time, a profile that fits the "Born to please" message very well.
The other pillar of the story is garnacha, the region's emblematic variety and the base of many of its best wines, both red and rosé. To it is added freshness, a trait the D.O. attributes to its privileged setting in northern Spain, with mild nights that help preserve acidity and vivacity in the glass. Among what defines these wines today:
Behind an advertising campaign there is an area with much to show. Navarra combines vineyards, landscape and a powerful gastronomy, which makes it a well-rounded destination for a weekend getaway. Visiting its wineries lets you understand why rosé carries so much weight here and how garnacha adapts to different soils and altitudes.
If you fancy planning a route through the area, you can start by consulting the denominations of origin and see which Navarra wineries offer visits and tastings so you can organise the trip in good time.
What is right about "Born to please" is its honesty. Navarra promises neither the most expensive wine nor the most cryptic one, but wines that go down easily and that hook you without demanding a master's degree to enjoy them. At a time when many denominations are looking to stand out, going back to the essentials (rosé, garnacha and freshness) is a sensible move. And for the visitor, a perfect excuse to discover at source some wines designed, precisely, to please.
