About the winery
AALTO was founded in 1999 when Mariano García, technical director and winemaker at Vega Sicilia for 30 years, and Javier Zaccagnini, director of the Regulatory Council of the Ribera del Duero D.O. for 6 years, decided to combine their skills and experience to start a winery of a singular kind. They set out with a specific goal: to make a wine that would rank among the best in the world within 15 to 20 years and that would show a distinct personality from the very beginning.
