Alto de Inazares

◍ Murcia

About the winery

Alto de Inazares is a vineyard and winery owned by the Prieto and Pina families in Inazares, a hamlet in north-western Murcia with a cool climate island within the Mediterranean, in the foothills of the Subbetic ranges. The vineyard covers about 2.9 hectares split into eight plots on the hill of El Altico, at 1,373 metres, and is farmed organically and biodynamically, by hand and following the lunar calendar. It grows Viognier, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling, and among reds Syrah and Pinot Noir, a variety they pioneered in Murcia. Winemaker M. J. Fernández Llamas follows the wine from vine to bottle, in very small runs that change with each vintage. They have a wine club with tastings and events.
