About the winery
Bodega Alberto Ledo occupies part of the old Ledo syrup and preserves factory in Villafranca del Bierzo, founded by the family in 1818 and now restored as a winery for making, ageing and bottling wine within the D.O. Bierzo. Since the 2007 harvest all its grapes have come from the El Cotelo estate, about three hectares a short distance from the winery, which is farmed in zones according to the soil. They make Ledo Mencía and Ledo Godello, aged on lees in steel, and oak-aged reds such as Ledo.8 Crianza, Ledo Selección and Ledo Club de Barricas. The guided visit follows the process from vineyard to bottling and the barrel room, with a tasting in a room that doubles as a museum of the old canning machinery.
