About the winery
This is how it all began. My grandmother, Josefa “la Balcona” (so called because her house had a balcony), was a brave and enterprising woman who, in the hard years after the Spanish Civil War, bought our estate as a widow with two children. She built the first Balcona winery to offer wine to her workers. My mother, Dolores “la Balcona”, married Antonio “el Partal”, and little by little the area of vineyards grew until, in the 1950s, my father became one of the founding members of the village's first cooperative.
