Bodega Numanthia

◍ Zamora

About the winery

Bodega Numanthia was founded in 1998 in Valdefinjas, in the Toro D.O., and its name pays tribute to the ancient inhabitants of Numantia, who held out for years against the Roman siege. It works old Tinta de Toro vines, the local form of Tempranillo, farmed organically and without irrigation on sandy, stony soils, in an area with a long winemaking tradition. It makes three reds: Termes, the most vibrant; Numanthia; and Termanthia, its flagship wine. It is part of the LVMH group. It offers private visits by booking, in two formats, which include a walk through its century-old vineyards and a tour among the barrels of the ageing cellar.
