About the winery
Because of the importance this grape has gained and its varietal richness, Bodegas Martín Códax became keen to create a quality Mencía wine. After many months of exhaustive research by the winery's field technicians, they concluded that the best area to grow this vine was El Bierzo, both because of its climate and soil characteristics and because of the splendid vineyards they found there. There they discovered century-old high-mountain Mencía vines with magnificent potential for making quality wines.
